New Coastal Paintings
My latest series, the Coastal Studies are a collection of works painted over the last eighteen months. The paintings allowed a new subject to express and excite my creativity. The abstract shapes, textures, colours, layered with feeling, expression, and traces to evoke objects. Many have used the coastal subject but for me it is my first visit; it created a new energy to work on. Hopefully they capture the vast depth of the sea juxtaposed by mans strange manufactured objects. Each painting to me is an individual and has its own personality, composed of countless fragments and infinite thought. The richness of this existence is hopefully beyond the obvious and lies among the mists of nuance. After all the years I see the essence of what I have to say coming out. The subject matter is a mere vehicle, a tease to start you on the search for what has gone on before.
